Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu (left) and San Miguel Corp. (SMC) President Ramon Ang (right ) seal with a firm handshake the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the cleanup of the Tullahan-Tinajeros River System, one of the dirtiest waterways that empties into Manila Bay. Both parties agreed to develop and implement a comprehensive program intended to reduce pollution in the river system which starts from the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City and drains into the Manila Bay at Centennial Park in Navotas City. Cimatu thanked Mr. Ang for heeding the call to help in the rehabilitation of the bay during the signing ceremony held Monday (March 4, 2019) at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City. ###

Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu (center) assures the public of continuing rehabilitation of the Boracay Island in Malay, Aklandespite the on-going massive cleanup of Manila Bay. Cimatu, who chairs both the Boracayand Manila Bay Interagency Task Forces, made the assurance on Thursday (February 28, 2019) following task force meeting held in Taguig City. Also in attendance are Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat(left) and Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año (right), both vice-chairs of BIATF.Cimatu also stressed the continued action against those found violating ordinances and regulations within the discipline zones, especially establishments that operate beyond the easement areas along the beach and roads. ###

The equipment has a maximum reach of 14 meters, moves in and out of the water by itself, and can work in different environment such as swamps and narrow channels. On a daily basis, the two AmpEx can excavate 720 cubic meters or around 60 truckloads of silt and waste combined.###

The Jollibee branch is one of 20 establishments cited by LLDA this week for water pollution in connection with the ongoing Manila Bay rehabilitation program. ###

Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu calls on local chief executives of 178 cities and municipalities around Manila Bay to do their share in the rehabilitation of Manila Bay by cleaning the rivers and esteros within their respective jurisdictions. Cimatu likewise reminded them of their primary responsibility to enforce the provisions of the Ecological Solid Waste Management law, particularly on waste segregation and disposal, as the garbage thrown by local residents in rivers and esteros contribute largely to the pollution of Manila Bay. Cimatu made the call during the Local Chief Executives’ Forum on February 11, 2019 organized by the Department of Interior and Local Government in Manila.#
