The Cagayan Valley's environment director has ordered field officials to consider effectiveness in planning for reforestation programs.

In the briefing of key officials of Isabela province, Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn C. Bambalan made a tall order to improve the conduct of survey, mapping and planning (SMP) of sites for area development under the National Greening Program. "The results of SMP determine the capability of areas for plantation. We should only develop effective areas. Do not include non-plantable areas," she said.

RED Bambalan also emphasized the importance of universe and baseline data in planning to be able to accurately determine the total requirements of the projects to be implemented.

"Gusto kong maayos ang program implementation. Dapat seryosohin natin para hindi masayang ang pera," the regional environment chief said as she challenged the foresters to apply the science of forestry.

During the briefing, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Marlon C. Agnar presented the status of implementation of DENR's priority programs in Isabela. The Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) Officers discussed their respective accomplishments.
