Top performing offices and employees of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 2 were commended during the agency’s Regional Management Conference and Year-end Assessment held in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.
 
Three Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs), five Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs), and six divisions from the regional and field offices received the Regional Executive Director’s Award, the highest regional achievement for top performers who have excelled and given the best of their services in pursuing the DENR mandate.
 
To recognize those who have contributed in the efficient and effective implementation of the department’s goals, plaque of commendation was also conferred to Pedro Callo Jr., Jowin Abiva, the Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group, and the Regional ICT Unit. The team assigned at the Cagayan Valley Forest Products Monitoring Station in Aritao, the PENRO and CENROs of Quirino, and Aaron Rodriguez also received certificate of recognition.
 
Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan said the awards are consonant to the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE), an incentive award system mandated by the Civil Service Commission to encourage creativity, innovativeness, efficiency, integrity and productivity in the public service. The DENR Region 2 PRAISE committee is chaired by Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Management Services Ismael Manaligod.
 
The awarding ceremony was led by Undersecretary Benito de Leon who graced the management conference. He was assisted by Director Bambalan, ARD for Technical Services Marcos Dacanay and ARD Manaligod.
 
In his message, Undersecretary de Leon underscored excellence and valuing one’s accomplishments as he lauded the executives on the ground for the continuous efforts to strive for excellence and for putting at the forefront the fulfillment of the department’s mission and mandate.
 
DENR Undersecretary Juan Miguel Cuna and the political leaders of Nueva Vizcaya also graced the three-day conference participated in by key officials of the DENR Regional Office, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Environmental Management Bureau, PENROs and CENROs.
 
The physical accomplishments; status of financial utilization; and issues and concerns on forestry, enforcement, protected area, biodiversity, lands, and COVID-19; and experimental forests were discussed. The online approval and monitoring of available seedlings for disposition was also launched.
 
The new officials of Isabela were installed during the conference. They are: Federico Cauilan Jr. as In-Charge, Office of the PENR Officer, Giovanie Taguinod as OIC, Technical Services Division, and Nelson Paguigan as In-Charge, Office of the CENR Officer of Palanan.
 
The DENR Region 2 officials also participated in the bamboo planting activity along the Sta. Fe River in Barangay Indiana, Bambang town and visited the sanitary landfill of the municipality and the arboretum at the Regional Ecological Park and Training Center in Aritao.#
