The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2 and the FCF Minerals Corporation has forged partnership today for forest rehabilitation project held at the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.
DENR Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan and FCF General Manager for Operations Lorney Harvey signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the rehabilitation of 83-hectare forest development project to include graduated National Greening Program sites in the province under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources in Nueva Vizcaya.
"This endeavor will create livelihood opportunities for the People's Organizations (POs) which will be engaged in the rehabilitation of the areas,” Director Bambalan said.
She added the MOA Signing is a manifestation of strengthened commitment between the parties to bring environment, economic and social development in the area.
On the part of the mining company, GM Harvey said the company will take responsibility to develop the project which will eventually benefit the community and the members of the POs. “We thank the DENR for the continued partnership in environmental protection and conservation,” he added.
The said agreement will facilitate and accelerate the replacement of affected trees to be cut during the mining operations in compliance with the Financial and Technical Assistance Agreement (FTAA) and the tree cutting permit awarded to the company.
FCF Minerals Corporation vowed to allocate funds for the three-year project starting 2022 amounting to 2.79 million for the establishment of plantations with at least 85% survival rate.
Witnessing the MOA Signing in time of the environment month kick off were Assistant Regional Executive Director for Management Services Ismael Manaligod, PENR Officer Giovannie Magat, OIC, CENR Officers Bernardino Aganon and Lensy Bunuen of Dupax and Aritao, respectively, PENR Sub-Office In-Charge Wilfredo Dacuycuy, and other DENR and FCF MC officials.#
