“We need to be authentic to our message, to other people and to ourselves,” the assistant secretary said underscoring integrity as a strong foundation of a true leader. “Integrity does not mean we need to be perfect. It’s all about being honest and having strong moral principles in life and that’s what we call authentic leadership,” she emphasized.

 

Asec Lagunda also said the ENR Basic Course aims to enhance the knowledge of participants in the fundamental ENR laws and in the Department’s programs and priority projects. It also aims to strengthen the support personnel of field offices linking the frontliners with supervisors through their technical expertise.

 

“Completing the ENR Basic Course is only the beginning of a greater responsibility to translate what you have learned into actions, in order to perform better (in the office), to serve better (to your clients and stakeholders) and to be better (better version of yourself),” the top official said. “Our excellent service and pleasing personality must not only be shown in the office, it should go beyond DENR borders,” she added.

 

Human Resource Development Service Director Ric G. Enriquez encouraged the participants to create a great culture of excellence amid the challenges posed by the health pandemic.

 

“You need to perform well and serve with utmost integrity, sincerity and perseverance. Know by heart the ENR laws and programs and live a disciplined, excellent, noble and responsible life,” Director Enriquez said.

 

In her message, Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn C. Bambalan appealed for support to strengthen the implementation of the DENR priority programs by adhering to the core values of the Department.

 

“As graduates of the Basic Course, you will play an important role in our quest to raise the bar of performance of the DENR Region 2,” the regional environment chief said.

 

Among the 20 participants of the R2 202 Class Valiant, Engr. Raul Palaganas of PENRO Isabela was awarded class valedictorian who also received the leadership award. Jeliza Manaligod of the Enforcement Division and Vichiejane Gumarang of PENRO Cagayan were the class salutatorian and 1st honorable mention, respectively.

 

The Best in Journal Award went to Ralffe Concepcion of the Regional Public Affairs Office while the Community Engagement Award was given to Engr. Eldon Macasiray of the Environmental Management Bureau and Noel Lagundi of CENRO Solana.

Class Valiant is the second batch to finish the ENR Basic Course following the first batch held last year at the DENR Region 2 Training Center in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.

 

The ENR Basic Course is the 2nd track of the ENR Academy among the four other courses which include Frontline, Supervisory, Managerial and Executive. It is a 7-day learning and development program with community engagement for employees holding positions with salary grades 10-15.

 

The regional mobile training team led by Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Lilia dL. Abel and Enforcement Division Chief Joel S. Daquioag implemented the Basic Course.#
