LOOK: DENR Regional Youth Desk Officer Ralffe Concepcion shares before young leaders in Cagayan Valley issues concerning both the environment and the youth during the 13th National Youth Parliament (NYP) Region 2 Assembly held today in Cauayan City, Isabela.
 
The sharing activity served as the initial process of the NYP’s Committee on Environment in crafting policies that would address environmental issues and concerns in the localities.
 
One of the environmental issues in Region 2 discussed by Concepcion is the perennial flooding within communities along and nearby the Cagayan River.
 
He shared the interventions of the DENR and its partners and stakeholders in addressing the said issue including the riverbank stabilization activities implemented by the Department.
 
Concerns on forest protection and solid waste management program implementation were also discussed.
 
The youth leaders to include Sangguniang Kabataan officials and members were encouraged to formulate policies in strengthening the material recovery facilities in barangays for effective solid waste management.
 
The committee members, who were school and youth organization leaders, also expressed their willingness to join as Agency’s ENR Ambassadors.#
