YOUNG PARTNERS IN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. Students and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials and members in Diffun, Quirino participated yesterday in an environmental lecture conducted by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENR) Office in celebration of the Philippine Environment Month.
 
The participants from Brgy. Diego Silang in said town learned the Agency’s 10 priority programs; and basic environmental laws such as Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, and National Greening Program (NGP).
 
They were also encouraged to lead other youth in preserving the flora and fauna being enriched in their locality.
 
Diego Silang and its nearby barangays are home of hectares of forestlands and NGP plantations.
 
“While they are young, we introduce the basic laws and programs of our Department for them to be more participative in environmental protection and conservation efforts in their respective areas,” said PENR Officer Mariam Frances Malana.
 
Conservation and Development Unit Chief Loraine Anne Malvar, and Information Officers Ramon Sanchez Jr. and Jennilyn Gatin served as resource persons in the event.#
