ENGAGING SK OFFICERS IN ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCACY

In the Environmental Education dubbed “Sangguniang Kabataan para sa Kalikasan” recently conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2, the participants formulated a doable community-based action plan from July to December, this year to be implemented in their respective areas.

 

With the aim to train the SK with environmental laws and protection programs, the event highlighted their important role in intensifying proper solid waste management, and nursery establishment in the barangay level.

 

The DENR has also committed to extend technical assistance to the local government through the SK to strengthen and sustain implemented environmental activities in their communities.

 

Regional focal person for Ecological Solid Waste Management Eliza Macarubbo of the Environmental Management Bureau and Development Management Officer Jennifer Arugay of DENR acted as resource speakers in the activity.

 

Facilitated by the Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group, in collaboration with the EMB, the event was also attended by the office' on-the-job trainees from Cagayan State University, University of St. Louis- Tuguegarao, and University of La Salette-Santiago.#
