MARINE ECOSYSTEMS PRESERVATION. Students of Sanchez Mira School of Arts and Trades in Cagayan have learned in a recently conducted symposium the importance of coastal and marine ecosystems, management and protection.
 
Led by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in Cagayan, the activity is in celebration of the World Oceans Day and Coral Triangle Day held every June 8 and 9, respectively.
 
After learning the priority programs and activities of DENR, the participants committed to promote and support environmental protection and preservation. They also vowed to be active advocates for the environment.
 
In Batanes, a coastal cleanup was held in Sitio Salukan, Malakdang in Sabtang town. Barangay officials and residents, and DENR personnel participated in the cleanup.
 
Afterwhich, an environmental lecture about coastal and marine resources conservation was held. This was participated in by members of the United Sumnanga Civic Organization, a partner people’s organization in Batanes.
 
An environmental film showing was also participated in by DENR employees’ dependents in the province of Isabela.#
