APPEAL FOR RESPONSIBLE TOURISTS. Regional Executive Director and Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) chairperson Gwendolyn Bambalan of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2 has appealed to the public to be responsible tourists when visiting to Protected Areas in the Cagayan Valley Region.

In her recent visit to the Palaui Island Protected Landscape and Seascape (PIPLS) in Sta. Ana, Cagayan, the regional environment chief said the DENR is ensuring an orderly-managed operation within the protected area as the influx of tourists is expected during the summer season.

“We appeal to the tourists to maintain the pristine island’s beauty and cleanliness,” she emphasized as she monitored the ongoing improvement of facilities within the PIPLS.

The PIPLS, one of the best beaches in the world, has reopened to tourists on March 8, this year after a two-year stop of operation due to the pandemic.

“The improvement of facilities in the island will attract more tourists to visit the area and this is one way to help boost our economy,” the PAMB chairperson added.

Among the facilities she monitored include the nearly completed pasalubong center, multi-purpose hall, step ladders and comfort rooms.

Joining RED Bambalan in her monitoring activity were Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Joselito Razon, other DENR personnel, and Philippine National Police Maritime Group officials.#
