RECOGNIZING NEW LAWYERS. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 2 has recognized yesterday 13 new lawyers who passed the 2020-2021 Bar Examinations.

The new lawyers are Ralph Karylle Pablo and Cybel Shepherd Malaga of Regional Office; Maria Jeminah Turaray of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Batanes; Elwina Aquino of PENRO Cagayan; Patricia Anne Mercado and Clarissa Favor of CENRO Naguilian; Kevin Villamor and Honorio Villamar Jr. of CENRO San Isidro; Teodora Pagalilauan of PENR Isabela Sub-Office; Junny Vic Andaya of CENRO Dupax; Aivy Nipahoy of CENRO Aritao; John Reiñer Manadao of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB); and Rhoda Marie Caronan of the Office of the DENR Resident Auditor.

DENR Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan lauded the lawyers for bracing the challenges not only for finishing the eight years of schooling but also for successfully passing the examination amid the uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“You demonstrated the values of discipline and excellence which are expected of all DENR officials and employees. The values of nobility and responsibility will remain to be tested as you practice your law profession, but as DENR employees, I know you will uphold these core values of ours – being trustworthy and accountable at all times,” Director Bambalan underlined.

She also enjoined the bar passers to always remember the DENR as an agency where they come from.

“I appeal to all of you to support in whatever capacity you will have, the noble cause of protecting our environment,” the regional environment chief added.

The recognition program is part of the department’s Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE), an award system mandated by the Civil Service Commission.

The activity was witnessed by Assistant Regional Executive Directors Marcos Dacanay and Ismael Manaligod, other DENR and EMB officials and employees, and relatives of the bar passers.#
