GEARING UP TOWARD ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP. To build sustainable actions for the environment, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENR) Office of Quirino engaged the various civil society organizations (CSOs) with the aim to mobilize them in the conservation, management, development, and protection of the environment and natural resources through aconsultation with the CSOs.

The consultation was attended by the CSO representatives of the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) Nueva Vizcaya-Quirino Chapter, United Architects of the Philippines, Junior Chamber International Narra-Naregta, and Community Forestry Foundation Quirino Inc. who vowed their support to the greening efforts of the department.

Quirino PENR Officer Mariam Frances Malana said the involvement of CSOs in environmental protection is important because they provide solidarity mechanisms and promote participation of all stakeholders. “We need their support since environmental preservation is a shared responsibility among all societies,” the provincial environment chief added.

Meanwhile, the CSO members committed to develop and maintain tree plantation areas that will be awarded/assigned to them.
“We are one with the DENR not only in tree planting but most importantly in tree growing,” said Diffun MENRO and PIEP Vice President Jessie Delio Vaquilar.#
