SAVE FORESTS, PLANT TREES. In celebration of the International Day of Forests (IDF) on March 21, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office 2 distributed free indigenous forest tree seedlings to the first 100 clients.

According to the Forest Management Bureau, in 2012, the United Nations proclaimed March 21 as the International Day of Forests to celebrate and raise awareness on the importance of all types of forests.

“I encourage you all to grow and nurture seedlings this time. This will be a good strategy to attain high survival rate as summer season is not the best time to plant seedlings,” Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan said in a statement. This year’s IDF theme is "Forests and Sustainable Consumption and Production".#
