LOOK: In celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office 2 distributed free forest and fruit bearing seedlings ready for planting, and free certified technical description.
 
Walk-in clients were given forest and fruit bearing seedlings like Arius (Podocarpus costalis), Tuai (Bischofia javanica), Tagpo (Ardisia squamulosa presl), Kamagong (Diospyros blancoi), Narra (Pterocarpus indicus), Lubeg (Syzygium lineatum), Yakal (Shorea astylosa) and Ipil (Intsia bijuga) to promote backyard greening in the community.
 
Technical description were also distributed for free to the first 50 clients, a practice since 2017.
 
In the Philippines, the first week of March of every year is declared as Women's Week and March 8 as Women's Rights and International Peace Day by virtue of Proclamation No. 224 series of 1988.
 
This year's IWD theme is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow!".
