BUILDING STRONGER PARTNERSHIP FOR BETTER LAND MANAGEMENT. Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 2 has urged the support of the geodetic engineers (GEs) for a better land management program implementation.

In her message during the recently held 36th Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines Incorporated-North Luzon Area Assembly (GEPI-NLAA), Director Bambalan emphasized the need for the preparation of one control map.

She said the map will address issues on overlapping of areas, conflicting classification of the land and illegal conversion. “I appeal for your support in this endeavour particularly the GEs of the Cagayan Valley Region to facilitate the management of our land resources especially in land titling, issuance of tenure, and other management arrangements,” she added.

The regional environment chief congratulated the officers and members of the association for their milestones in undertaking new trends in surveying and mapping activities which empower them to become more active and supportive in their chosen profession.

“Every geodetic engineer is a key player in order to sustain what we have started in administering our land resources. I encourage you especially the young ones to keep abreast of the technical issues and apparently to dig appropriate solutions besetting the state of our environment today particularly in land management,” Director Bambalan said.

She also acknowledged the partnership and strong collaborative efforts in promoting and strengthening the principles of sustainable development underscoring their participation in the Cagayan River Restoration Project under the Build Back Better initiatives particularly in the delineation and easement recovery and in the preparation of resettlement areas for families affected by calamities.

Gracing the occasion were Rep. Junie Cua and Gov. Dakila Carlo Cua of the province of Quirino; GEPI national president Mario Jose Silvino; DENR Assistant Regional Executive Director for Technical Services Marcos Dacanay; chairpersons and officers of the North Luzon Area Council; and GEPI presidents and board of directors of regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region.#
