TREE HUGGING DAY. Officials and employees of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 2 led by Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan join the Tree Hugging Day campaign of the Forest Management Bureau.

The campaign, in celebration of the Valentine's Day, aims to promote awareness on the importance of nurturing forests and the benefits of tree hugging to a person's well-being.

The tree hugging movement is a passionate action towards the conservation of forests that started in Northern India in 1970s. It is known as the "Chipko Movement" which saved the forests by emphasizing the interdependence of humans and the environment.
