LOOK: More infrastructure projects were turned over by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2 to four municipal local governments in Nueva Vizcaya.

The DENR through Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan has handed the completed 4.1-kilometer access road with reinforced concrete box culvert in Brgy. Banila, Dupax Del Sur; 1.5 km. access road with 300 meters pathway component in Bua, Kasibu; 1.9 km. access road in Balangabang, Kayapa; and the 3.758 km. irrigation pipeline system in Parai, Dupax Del Norte.

These P82 million worth agroforestry support facilities were constructed under the agency’s Forestland Management Project.
According to Director Bambalan, the projects are another investment of the government to provide ease of transport of products from the farm to the market.

"We expect that you will take care of these and that you will give more importance to the environment and natural resources, particularly in participating in the conservation of the remaining forests and trees," she said.

As she appreciated the expression of support by the local chief executives in the National Greening Program, the DENR Cagayan Valley chief requested for their cooperation to the intensified forest protection and anti-illegal logging in the province and for the communities to report any prohibited activities to the DENR.

In response, the local officials committed to give their share by protecting the facilities and the plantations because their constituents are benefitting from these.

The people's organizations meanwhile promised to take responsibility of maintaining and protecting the projects.

The turn over ceremonies were attended by DENR Nueva Vizcaya key officials headed by provincial chief Giovannie Magat, Conservation and Development chief Enrique Pasion, Congresswoman Luisa Lloren Cuaresma, Board Member Edu Balgos, Dupax Del Norte Mayor Timothy Joseph Cayton, Kasibu Mayor Romeo Tayaban, Kayapa Mayor Elizabeth Balasyo, Dupax del Sur representative Vincent Gonzales, and village officials.#
