ENVI LAWS COMPLIANT INFRA PROJECTS. District engineers from all over the region recently participated in the dialogue initiated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to ensure that all government infrastructure projects are compliant to environmental laws and regulations.

In the meeting presided over by DENR Assistant Regional Director Marcos Dacanay, the engineers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were reoriented on the issuance of Environmental Compliance Certificate which was discussed by Regional Director Nelson Honrado of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).

Licenses Patents and Deeds Division Chief Eliseo Mabasa, and For. Corazon Mabborang also discussed the requirements for Tree Cutting Permit, Special Land Use Permit and Forest Land Use Agreement applications.

To avoid delay in the implementation of the projects, regional environment chief Gwendolyn Bambalan has ordered the EMB and DENR field officials to make sure that all the necessary requirements are in place.

She requested DPWH Regional Director Loreta Malaluan to provide the DENR the list of ongoing and proposed projects within protected areas (PA) and timberlands as she emphasized that any development within the PA requires an endorsement from the protected area management board.

The activity was facilitated by Enforcement Division Chief Joel Daquioag and was also attended by the provincial and community environment and natural resources officers.#
