"Before, land titles can only be named after males who are heads of the family. But now, women names are already allowed,” said Engr. Mabasa over DWPE Radyo Pilipinas.

 

He added: "Allowing female names in land titles is pursuant to the harmonized Gender Advocacy and Development (GAD) guidelines applied in Rapid Land Titling Appraisal. The guidelines co-developed by the Philippine Commission on Women and the National Economic and Development Authority ensure that programs and projects of the government are gender-responsive.

 

For titles named after men, their spouse’s names are now required to be included in the land titles.

 

In 2020, the DENR recorded that 20% of the 1,782 farmer beneficiaries of residential free patents are women while they also represent the 25% of the 644 agricultural free patent beneficiaries.

 

According to the LPDD chief, female municipal assessors and public land inspectors are being hired to acknowledge the significant role of women in land-related fields.
