WOMEN EMPOWERMENT. Personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2 participated in the synchronized performance of the One Billion Rising Dance held earlier in celebration of the National Women’s Month.
 
Leading the kick-off ceremony, Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan said: “We have to be serious in promoting gender equality. Following our Merit Selection and Promotion Plan is one mechanism to promote gender equality.”
 
The DENR Region 2 will hold various activities this March which include free pap-smear and prostate gland checkup, cleanup drive session every Friday, lecture on Republic Act 9710 or Magna Carta for Women, and launch of the Vertical Green Wall Living Architect in the Regional Office for Climate and Disaster Resiliency.
 
The Regional Office will be giving free technical description and seedlings for the first 50 clients in celebration of the International Women’s Day on March 8.
 
Proclamation No. 224 series of 1988 declares the first week of March of every year as Women's Week and March 8 as Women's Rights and International Peace Day.
 
This year's theme is "Juana Laban sa Krisis sa Klima at Pandemya: Kaya!"#
