ENVIRONMENTAL PARTNERSHIP. DENR Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan and Mayor Lynn Zuniega of Cordon, Isabela discuss forest management and development and environmental partnerships.
 
In the meeting yesterday, Mayor Zuniega discussed their proposal to adopt a 28-hectare forestland located at Sitio Istampa in Barangay Capirpiriwan for the development of an ecological park.
 
Director Bambalan expressed support in their proposal and recommended for a co-management scheme through a memorandum of agreement.
 
"We welcome partners. Hindi namin ito kaya mag-isa. We need your help in forest management and development," said RED Bambalan.
 
Mayor Zuniega also informed Director Bambalan about the ongoing tree planting activities of all barangays in Cordon and said that future planting activities will be done in the proposed ecological park.
 
Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) Emerson Saldivar said the proposed project will be a venue to promote forest protection and biodiversity conservation.
 
The lady chief executive also sought assistance of DENR in working out their sanitary landfill.
 
Director Bambalan instructed Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Felix Ganapin to conduct a joint assessment with the local government of Cordon to fast track the proccessing and issuance of Environmental Compliance Certificate for the town's landfill.
 
Director Bambalan further discussed with Mayor Zuniega land titling to benefit the locals in Cordon.
 
After the meeting, the regional environment chief visited five National Greening Program sites in Cordon, Santiago City and San Isidro in the province of Isabela.
 
Director Bambalan was joined by CENRO Ganapin, MENRO Saldivar and CENRO San Isidro technical personnel.#
