COVID-19 PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT. DENR regional executives discuss preventive measures and management of the corona virus disease (COVID-19) in today’s executive committee meeting.

The regional directors of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) provided the executive committee updates on precautionary measures observed by their respective bureaus.

To ensure safety of all personnel of the DENR, EMB and MGB, Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn C. Bambalan made a tall order for the strict adherence to health and safety protocol.

“We will be restricting the entry of clients and guests inside our office. Our clients shall only be entertained by the desk officer at the lobby and the messenger will forward the request to concerned office,” Director Bambalan ordered.

To avoid face-to-face contact with clients and lessen their burden of going personally to the office, the DENR regional head has instructed the information technologists to develop systems or programs for online transactions. “We have to upgrade and adopt to the new normal,” RED Bambalan added.

Regional Director Mario A. Ancheta discussed the measures they are employing in the MGB such as entertaining clients only at the lobby, regular disinfection of service vehicles and not allowing non-MGB personnel to ride the vehicles. He reported that the bureau will start conducting rapid test among its personnel.

For EMB, Regional Director Virgilio Edralin Licuan said the bureau is now employing the “no contact policy” through online submission of applications for permits. It also conducts regular disinfection of office premises.

The DENR has been managing COVID-19 pursuant to Department Memorandum Circular 2020-05 issued by Secretary Roy A. Cimatu on May 12, 2020.#
