In her meeting with Cagayan 3rd District Representative Joseph Lara, they

discussed partnerships for the Tuguegarao estero rehabilitation project of the Department of Public Works and Highways. The project involves construction of embankments that will serve as walkways and promenades.

 

Director Bambalan committed the DENR in the conduct of survey and delineation of easement of Tuguegarao's main creek.

The meeting also resulted in a partnership for the delineation of available public land in Bayo, Iguig for school site, evacuation center and economic zone.

 

In a separate meeting, the regional environment head got the nod of Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano in the implementation of solid waste management and the greening along the regional government center. Mayor Soriano discussed his plan for a city forest park in Barangay Namabbalan. The DENR will take charge in the delineation survey of the proposed 78-hectare forest park in the said barangay.

 

In Isabela, development and protection activities within the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park (NSMNP) were discussed with House Representatives Antonio Albano, Ed Christopher Go, Alyssa Sheena Tan and Faustino Dy V.

 

RED Bambalan explained that any development project within the NSMNP such as road construction should pass through the Protected Area Management Board, the governing and policy-making body of the protected area.

 

"We have to balance development and protection of our natural resources. We have to put safety measures also so as not to destroy the natural park," Director Bambalan said where the officials assured that they will comply with the laws.

 

Director Bambalan also discussed livelihood opportunities that the DENR provides to the Isabelinos such as the National Greening Program.

 

The restoration of the Cagayan River through dredging pursuant to DENR Administrative Order 2020-07 was also discussed with Isabela Gov. Rodolfo Albano III.

 

Santiago City Mayor Joseph Tan talked about air pollution control, solid waste management and sewage treatment plant in his area.#
