COMMENDATION FOR ENR LAW ENFORCEMENT. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Region 2 commended the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Cagayan Valley headed by Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan for its assistance in the conduct of regionwide "Operations Baklas" that contributed to the clean and orderly Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections held on Oct. 30, this year.

The recognition of various agencies and institutions was held today at the Police Regional Office during the Exit and Appreciation Conference of the Regional Joint Security Control Center spearheaded by the election commission.

During the recent campaign period, the DENR removed a total of 600 campaign advertisements posted on trees and in unidentified common poster areas.

The 'operation baklas' is in adherence to Republic Act No. 3571 and COMELEC Resolution No. 10730 which both prohibit injuring of planted trees and posting of campaign materials on trees.

Enforcement Division Chief Joel Daquioag who represented Director Bambalan in a message thanked COMELEC Regional Election Director Ederlino Tabilas and other law enforcement agency heads for their collaborative efforts in enhancing the conduct of environmental law enforcement activities.#
