KBP to adopt NGP site

The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Cagayan Chapter will adopt a two-hectare National Greening Program (NGP) site located in Barangay Lannig, Solana, Cagayan.

The adoption is in line with the nationwide tree-planting project of KBP dubbed “Oplan Broadcastreeing” which will be held simultaneously in August 15.

The KBP Cagayan Chapter chaired by DCZV Station Manager Floricadel L. Trilles, has tapped as partners in the project the Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) Office, the Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection, all based in Solana town.

In a meeting held on July 9, this year at the CENR Office in Solana, the group finalized the activities to be undertaken for the “Oplan Broadcastreeing”. As agreed upon, the CENR Office will lead the site preparation such as strip brushing and hole digging. They will be assisted by representatives of media stations, PNP and BFP, and barangay officials. Site preparation will be conducted five days prior to the actual planting.

The group will invite at least 100 individuals from the media, PNP, BFP, DENR and Barangay Lannig to participate in planting 2,000 seedlings of forest and fruit-bearing trees which will be provided by the DENR. Students enrolled in ROTC and NSTP will also be requested to join the activity.

To ensure the survival of the seedlings, the media stations have committed to visit the site every month. They will coordinate with the CENR Office prior to the site visit.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the adoption of the site will be forged by and between the CENR Office represented by OIC, CENR Officer Mariam Frances T. Malana and KBP Cagayan Chapter represented by Chairperson Trilles.#
