Sec Mamba graces Rubber Tree forum

“I want my children to inherit a world where they can breathe fresh air and drink clean water . . . experience how it is to walk under the canopy of trees, swim in blue waters above the river and live in a healthy environment.” said Secretary Manuel N. Mamba of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office justifying his full support to the National Greening Program (NGP).

Sec. Mamba was the keynote speaker during the regional investment forum on rubber tree held on March 14, this year, at the Lake Casili M & M Resort, Tuao East, Cagayan.

With the theme “Help Mitigate and Adapt to Climate Change and Alleviate Poverty: Plant Rubber Trees as Alternative Livelihood for NGP!,” the forum introduced the potential investment opportunities of rubber industry in Cagayan Valley.

Sec. Mamba also said that the forum intended to help benefit the poor especially the farmers in Cagayan Valley.

Cagayan Valley Agriculture and Resources Research and Development (CVARRD) Executive Officer William C. Medrano and CVARRD Chair and Isabela State University President Aleth M. Mamauag formally opened the event. This was attended by Regional Executive Director Benjamin T. Tumaliuan, National Economic and Development Authority Regional Director Mary Anne E.R. Darauay, Department of Trade and Industry Regional Director Ma. Esperanza C. Bañares, Regional Technical Director for Research Lilia dL. Abel and St. Francis of Assisi Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Robert Reyes; all speakers.

Experts in the rubber industry also shared their knowledge. They were University of Southern Mindanao Consultant Pablito Pamplona, USM-Agriculture Research Center Director Romulo Cena, Exquisite Organic Product President Ken Foo Chong, DTI Region 12 Provincial Director Anthony P. Bravo, Cagayan Lending Center representative Emily Cuarteros, Development Bank of the Philippines Branch Head Bernardo Bayangos and Department of Agriculture representative Rudy Galang. They discussed Economic Potential of Rubber for Cagayan Valley, Rubber Technologies, Marketing Prospects of Rubber, Financial Support for Rubber, and Research and Development Support for Rubber.

Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Southern Isabela Chapter President Charles Lim expressed in his closing remarks his appreciation to all participants for the successful outcome of the forum. # PMSA
