Sec. Paje declares R2 eco-park, training center

Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje has ordered the establishment of a one-stop ecological facility in Cagayan Valley.

The instruction was contained in DENR Administrative Order No. 2012-02 declaring the DENR Regional Training Center in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya as Ecological Park and Training Center of Region 2.

The ecological park and training center will serve as a show window of the rich biodiversity of Region 2 for education, research and conservation-oriented purposes in Nueva Vizcaya, and a venue for training programs requiring field practice.
Formerly leased by the Church of the New Tribe Mission, the Center covers more or less 10 hectares. It was turned over to the DENR on August 13, 2008 thru a memorandum of agreement.

Although there was no regular fund allotted for the Center last year, this was transformed as DENR Regional Training Center using savings of the regional office. Since its operationalization, it has served as venue for trainings, seminars and workshops conducted by the DENR and other sectors of the society earning a total of P36,800 in the form of rental for 2011.

DAO 2012-02 also mandates Regional Executive Director Benjamin T. Tumaliuan to issue a memorandum circular for the management of the Center and immediately prepare its developmental and operational plan. Region 2 is further instructed to include in its annual Work and Financial Plan the operation, improvement and maintenance of the Center and provide regular funds for the purpose.
